The Cart Shed
What is the Cart Shed?
The Cart Shed charity transforms lives. We work with adults and young people experiencing mental health difficulties or those who have an emotional imbalance in their lives, enabling them to try something new and improve their wellbeing.
Based in north Herefordshire, we use enriching and engaging woodland activities such as woodcraft and coppice craft as well as horticulture to empower individuals to self-manage their mental and physical health in a sustainable way. Sessions are run by tutors, occupational therapists and mental health practitioners to help participants build confidence, identify barriers to skills development and explore other issues that might be making life challenging.
The Cart Shed offers the opportunity to find friendships, a sense of belonging and a place of calm in a supportive and caring environment. We work with individuals from all backgrounds, lifting labels and minimizing stigma. There are no walls, badged health professionals or waiting rooms...Just the peace of the woodland.
In 2017 the Charity was awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
