"I am not one for mixing with people, but I have made some new friends and I wish the course would continue. It has helped me in so many ways and I don’t want it to end. I thank everyone who has helped me on this journey to my recovery!"
Corona Virus, Covid-19: Measures to keep you safe and well
As a result of advice from government advisors, The Cart Shed will be suspending its daily woodland activities until further notice from 23rd March 2020.
This is a difficult time for everyone and the thought of being isolated from family or friends is distressing.
We will be putting the following measures in place to support our participants and to help them maintain good health over this period.
We are asking individuals to buddy up with at least one participant from The Cart Shed. Then people will know someone is keeping an eye on how them, and they can do the same for someone else. Sometimes a few encouraging words is all that is needed. If there are any concerns about a buddy, call the Cart Shed Team on the usual numbers.
On the day individuals usually attend The Cart Shed we will be contacting them by telephone so they can get involved in a programme that will help them to maintain good health and well-being. These courses will be led by the usual team: Kate, Carly, Susie, Ian and Peter.
In addition to this we will be able to offer emotional support, helping to address any anxieties people may be feeling and working together to find appropriate coping strategies.
We will be posting regularly on Facebook for those who have access to social media.
We do not underestimate the concerns people may have. It is only natural to be worried at a time like this. If we work together, care for ourselves, care for others and allow ourselves to be cared for, we will come out the other side stronger, knowing we created a valuable support network, that kept us well.
Remember if you feel unwell, have a temperature/fever, and a dry cough, you must self-isolate for two weeks (14 days). If you feel you cannot manage your symptoms call 111.
If you feel lonely, contact your buddy. If you are feeling low, contact The Cart Shed or the Crisis team.
